Several years ago I had the highest honor of flying up to Manhattan to shoot the engagement shoot of the unbelievably kind and ridiculously talented, Betsy McBride. Her and Simon are such a sweet couple, and they met about a decade ago when Simon himself was also a ballerina!

These two are so gentle towards each other, and have such a profound and beautiful history. Several years after shooting this, and a couple post-poned weddings due to Covid, later, I finally got to shoot their wedding this past summer in New Jersey, blogged here!

Both being very talented ballerinas, their engagement shoot of course included plenty of artistic elements. Recently I picked some of my favorite black and whites from the shoot (and added a few colored ones from the original gallery), and have been inspired by film photography. There’s something so poetic about black and white images that really add an emotional and raw element to the pictures. These two, and this photo shoot, will always have a special place in my heart.
